Denver Jail and Record Contacts
Denver release questions should start with the office that controls the record. The Denver Sheriff Department operates the local jail system for the City and County of Denver, while Denver courts, CDOC, VINE, BOP, and ICE handle different pieces of release status.
Denver Sheriff Department
Denver County Jail
10500 E. Smith Rd.
Denver, CO 80239
720-913-3642
Downtown Detention Center
490 W. Colfax Ave.
Denver, CO 80204
720-337-0400
General Denver help: 3-1-1 inside Denver or 720-913-1311 outside Denver.
Denver Sheriff Records
Submit Denver Sheriff records requests through the Denver Sheriff Department Open Records Request Form. DSD says phone and social-media records requests are denied under that process.
DSD records are handled under the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act. The first hour of research and retrieval has no charge, paper copies are $0.25 per page, staff time may run up to $41.37 per hour, and large requests may require estimate approval.
Bonding and VINE
Denver County Court Bonding Office
490 East Colfax, in the Downtown Detention Center lobby
720-337-0062
Denver Sheriff Court Services lists bonding hours as Monday through Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Denver County Court pages list different office-hour ranges, so verify current hours with the Bonding Office before relying on them.
Colorado VINE / VINELink: VINELink Colorado or 888-263-8463.
Use the right route for the question:
- For a released Denver jail inmate or release record, start with the home page search path and Denver Sheriff records steps.
- For supervision after release, use post-release supervision and the state or court supervision office listed there.
- For who may have left recently, use the 24-hour releases page, which explains Denver's lack of a dedicated recent-release feed.
- For a date or notice, compare release date lookup with VINE inmate check.
- For state-prison custody, use the CDOC Offender Search, not the Denver jail search.
- For federal custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator; for immigration custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator.
